On Tuesday 17 February 2009, the four Working Group leaders of the Rugova GA will meet with ERA group to receive written feedback and recommendations on their pilot project ideas.  The working group leaders will be given the task to further develop their pilot project ideas with their groups, and come up with an action plan for implementing them to present at the next GA meeting on 3 March 2009.

At ERA’s Rugova Green Agenda meeting at Koha 3 on 10 February 2009, the four working groups (Ecological Agriculture, Nature Protection, Culture Heritage, and Rural Sustainable Tourism) met to discuss their pilot project ideas, clarify them and to present them to the larger group. Rugova GA working groups present Pilot Project ideas.

Each working group had 1-2 pilot project ideas to present to the gropu.  Rugova GA working group “Ecological Agriculture” working on their pilot project ideas. After the small group work and short presentations, the working groups received valuable feedback from the larger group to further develop their pilot project ideas.

The pilot projects were presented in the format of What, Why, When, Where, Who, How and How Much. Pilot Projects!! What, Where, When, Who, Why, How, How Much???

The working groups will also receive written feedback and recommendations from ERA next week at the meeting of working group leaders, so the leaders can facilitate their working groups meetings prior to the next GA meeting.

As homework from this meeting, each working group will also come up with an action plan to implement their pilot project.

The next Rugova Green Agenda meeting will be held on 3 March 2009 at 14:00 at Rugova Camp.

The working groups from the Rugova community’s Green Agenda process have chosen their leaders of each working group:

Rural Sustainable Development will be lead by Sokol Dembogaj.

Cultural and Natural Heritage will be lead by Ramiz Qorraj.

Ecological Agriculture will be lead by Turhan Nila.

Nature Protection will be lead by Ramiz Cukaj.

Rugova Community identifies its Values (Vlerat)Rugova Community First Stakeholder MeetingKosovo’s First Guidebook

On 10 March 2008, over 55 Rugova community stakeholders met together for the first time with NGO ERA group to identify their community’s values and to form Rugova Community identifies its Values (Vlerat)Rugova Community identifies its Values (Vlerat)working groups as part of the Green Agenda process in Kosovo.  The participants welcomed the Green Agenda process in their community, and remarked that this is the first time in their history that the Rugova community has been asked collectively to be a part of any strategic process.  By the end of the First Stakeholder Meeting, the participants had integrated each and every value identified into four specific working groups: Ecological Agriculture, Rural Sustainable Development, Nature Protection, and Culture & Heritage.  This meeting was covered by the TV, radio and newspaper correspondents.

The Rugova Community is made up of 13 villages in Western Kosovo (Peja Municipality) on the border with Montenegro.  This rural mountainous region is characterized by a steep gorge with a river running through it, and high biodiversity.  It currently a focal point for a future trans-boundary protected area between Kosovo, Montenegro and Albania.
